My situation with the Y is similar to Drew's. I always got a summer membership for swim lessons and family swimming at a very nice facility. No One said anything. When we stopped going to meetings we were all of a sudden bombarded with old articles about the evils of the YMCA. Interestingly a bunch of older people with in the cong (elders) went to the Y for physical therapy with excuse that it was cheaper there. I don't get their reasoning, if it's wrong, it's wrong! We will see what happens when we join this summer, I suspect it is something in their hip pocket to use against us, we've been warned after all.

Any Change on YMCA Policy?
by bavman ini had heard recently the wtbs may have changed their policy on the ymca.
it would be helpful to me personally if they have.

I say that to my husband all the time "don't you just feel free and wonderful"? But you put it so eloquently in this beautiful list that I can completely relate to. Maybe I am not very deep but sleeping in on the weekends is my favorite!

What Was The Very First Thing That Came Across Your Eyes That Lead You Down The Road To Doubt?

So many things like Noah didn't make sense as a child, but as a born in there is no way to process your doubts. Then there was 1975. Lack of love/ drama and thinking it's just me or the congregation I'm in, come to find out they are all the same. Pedophile cases and having one right in our own congregation.

Witness's seem more like Robots than humans...
by Leprechaun inyeah witness's seem to me to be more like robots than humans, just watch them when your around them everything is programed that they say, its weird the only time i personaly ever seen anything closely like it were the "pligs" in hilldale utah and saint george utah.
you can't get a stright answer from them with out it being scripted from their magazines.
i feel sorry for them i really do, i was raised a witness untill the past fifteen years or so, the term borg fits well, if you go to one of their conventions it is a lot like going to an amway convention they mostly act like they are in a drunken bliss.

Welcome. Happy birthday! Yes,coming from someone that was once a robot, they are robots. They have to be to abandon family members, knock on doors in three feet of snow, believe half baked doctrines and continue to sip the kool aid.

How many anointed can there be?
by Lost-In-Translation ini've been getting reports from paround the country that there have been multiple people, mostly young like in their 30s or 40s, who partook of the memorial emblems.
one person said that she saw 5 people in her congregation alone.
in my congregation 2 people partook - both of them in their 40s.

I can't believe that this is not waking more witnesses up. This number going up really just wrecks their whole premise, I don't see how they can shed a new light on this one. I have been a witness my entire life and am in my forties. I have only known 4 annointed people. They are all from my childhood and were very old then and have died. How can anyone still swallow this?

Yes I had a hard time when the speaker harped on higher education. I was going back to school but was trying to juggle everything and did a pretty good job, like went out in service, got to meetings on time so it didn't give anyone a reason to say anything. When it started to spill over into audience comments that were not even on topic being discussed, I just left a few times. Then I learned to avoid meetings that I knew were going to be all about education. I left a few assemblies because they would use one particular speaker every time that is a despicable human being, I didn't feel that I needed anything that came out of his vile mouth. The family loved it because they knew the day was over, goin out to lunch!

I would have went to college right after high school ( I wasn't allowed). Who really knows if we were raised that the sky is the limit what we all could have been. I probably wouldn't have married so young. Would have had a little more fun while I was young (minus the meetings, service assemblies). I would have had more children.

Sunday School Teacher Indicted for Murder and Rape - Still Lots of ?????
by flipper inas some of you may have heard about the tragic rape and death of an 8 year old sandra cantu here in california in the town of tracy - there are still a lot of unanswered questions which beg to be answered and indeed the young girl's brutal murder cries out for an answer.. in case you missed it, to sum up briefly this young girl went missing from her mobile home park the end of march and for about 10 days the police and volunteers put on a massive manhunt .
then finally after 10 days some farmworkers found sandra's body in a suitcase in an irrigation pond only about 2 miles from her home.
search warrants were put out and neighbors were questioned including a baptist minister , his wife, and his 28 year old grandaughter melissa huckaby whose 5 year old daughter played with sandra all the time.

I thought the same thing, that there is more to this story, just totally not the profile of someone that would do this. These cases are just the saddest, with what a poor little kid must think is happening to them and wondering why someone isn't helping them. Then the parent has to live with the horror the rest of their lives. Reminds me to hug my kid.

No I didn't like it. Because they always dragged out the senile, monotone, befuddled, local guy up to stammer through an outline that he invariably went 15min overtime on. But loved the snow days!

Bad Haircuts.
by cluless ini lost all confidence in myself today - i cut my hair and it looks terrible-so strange to think all courage i had in myself could evaporate with a haircut.. then i rememberd all the courage i had (the doors i knocked and theocratic talks i gave) in the name of jehover.. (i guess iam the oposite of sampson !!).
anyway i was thinking whilst being a j-w was one long bad -haircut.
what were the positives?.

I hate that feeling, but I have noticed that you usually feel better after a few days, just the initial shock. Some of my best hair dos have been bad cuts growing out. It grows faster in the summer. Wear a cool hat. Do you feel any better??
